The deadly Box jellyfish ( chironex flexkeri.) , are common in Northern Australia this time of year but are increasingly discovered in southern places. Worldwide, jellyfish populations are exploding due to lack of predators from overfishing and warmer oceans, making perfect breeding conditions for these ultimate survivors . We might need to start eating them.

WHY JELLYFISH, YOU ASK??

The Box jellyfish are  a prominent marine animal which dwells in the oceans where I live in Northern Australia. Although I have lived in the Top-End for 25 years,  I have hardly seen these mysterious but deadly creatures. Entranced by their translucent beauty, I have found inspiration which has informed my recent work, resulting in jellyfish sculptures in various colours,   handwoven from recycled fishingline.
