Aly de Groot is a passionate maker who specialises in textile art. Aly relishes any opportunity to share her love for contemporary fibre art practices, including basketry, plant dying and cyanotype (sunprinting). Based in Northern Australia, her creative agenda reaches far and wide in public works and exhibitions. She has facilitated workshops at over 30 schools as well as regular remedial art workshops in hospitals, festivals and other events . Since 2015 she has worked with women artists to develop a highly successful and celebrated ghost net weaving and plant dying enterprise at Anindilyakwa Arts on Groote Island that started off as a series of workshops to engage and inspire the artists.
